We've reached 80% of our funding goal!Â
Thank you so, so much for your support; it means a lot to us to see other people as excited about Skybourne as we are.
We have a bit of news to share with you, starting with The Player's Guide to Skybourne.
The Player’s Guide to SkybourneÂ
Over the next few weeks, we'll be bringing you more information on what to expect from the various books this kickstarter is funding, beginning with the player's guide. While the other two volumes are more setting and encounter-based, The player's guide includes all of the hard crunch: expanded rules, new mechanics, adventuring equipment, new racial options, and more, giving any gaming table everything it needs to play in Skybourne, or to introduce airships and other fun options to whatever campaign they're already playing.Â
The current outline includes but is not limited to:Â
Ships and Vehicles:Â Pricing, descriptions, and other information regarding airships, sea ships, submerged ships, and any other vehicle a Skybourne adventuring team might need.Â
Ship Combat Rules: Guidelines for quick and easy airship combat which may be adapted to a variety of environments.
New Skills: It takes a lot of work to keep a ship flying, a crew fed, and cargo changing hands. The Player’s Guide expands and standardizes many Profession skills, Craft skills, and other skills that can become very important in a life spent in the air.
Exploration Rules:Â New simplified and expanded rules for exploration and travel, helping players get the most fun out of their time exploring the world.Â
New Races: The player's guide includes all of the following new races.
- Sidhier-Â Mortal creatures with fairie ancestry, similar to the Aasimar or the tiefling.Â
- Leshy-Â a newly-spawned race of plant men given birth through the great forest.Â
- Cecaelia-Â Similar to merfolk, these creatures sport the upper-half of a human and the lower half of an octopus.
Expanded Races: New variants of the orc, goblin, halfing, and gnome, as well as expanded options for merfolk, elves, and more.
Expanded Player Options: A series of new player options including a new Barbarian totem for the Forest, halfling racial archetypes for dragon-riding rangers and hunters, as well as new traits, spells, feats, and more.Â
Alignment in Skybourne: Alignment means more than personality in the world of Skybourne. With denizens of the forest warring with the last bastions of civilization and with the hosts of heaven and hell doing battle over the soul’s of what’s left of the world, the Player’s Guide includes feats, traits, and new rules for bringing alignment to life and making one’s alignment a truly important part of their adventuring career.Â
Stretch Goals
Since Skybourne looks like it will soon go into overfunding, we’re in the process of creating several stretch goals we're rather excited about. That being said, one of the best parts of kickstarter is our ability to hear from you about what you want to see in your books and, since this update is discussing the player's guide, we thought we'd start by asking what new mechanics you might like to see expanded in it.Â
What sort of options would you like to see? More races? Additional classes? New feats for classes from the Advanced Class Guide, or new archetypes for our own Spheres of Power? Leave a comment on this update telling us what you’d like to see, and we’ll do our best to make it happen.Â
Press
Today, Skybourne was featured in the Gamepunting podcast. It is a very wonderful thing to see people getting excited about our project. If you see or hear of any other instances of people sharing our project, please let us know, we'd love to know who's talking about us.Â
Worthy Kickstarters
Kickstarter has been very good to us, and in the spirit of kicking it forward, every now and then we'd love to bring other projects to your attention. Some will be large projects we're excited about, some will be small projects we feel are in need of a hand, but all of them will be things we think you'd enjoy.Â
Grimtooth’s Ultimate Traps Collection: Whether you're new to traps, an old hand at traps, an old-school player, or are relatively new to the hobby, a 460 page hardcover book of system-neutral traps is useful for adding a bit of deadly fun to any campaign. It's currently smashing through stretch goals, so give this one a look!
Thank You!Â
Thank you all for helping us make Skybourne a reality. Your support has been wonderful, and we can't wait to see what the rest of this month brings.
Thank you,Â
Adam
